Steel Engravings
These bookmarks were made by steel engravings, the less expensive way to produce specialty products in the late nineteenth century. Certainly less work than hand done, the work is nevertheless gorgeous on these bookmarks. Submitted by Lauren Roberts.

Sorget nicht fur euer Leben
I can't translate the German and I'm not sure I have even transcribed it correctly but it's a wonderful image of birds and flowers. The reverse says it's from Thomas & Mattill in Cleveland, OH and there were 6 in a set. Submitted by Laine Farley Update: Oliver Schlick from Zurich sent the following translation/information: "It corresponds to Matthew 6:25/26 and cites the phrase “do not be worried about your life". The illustration corresponds to the following sentence: 26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow etc."
